National Giving Day or Giving Tuesday is this week! We hope you will consider giving back to the Willimantic Community by supporting Windham Community Food Network in our mission to build a just and sustainable food system.
In the U.S. 33 million people are food insecure and 490,000 in Connecticut alone, yet approximately 108 billion meals are thrown away in the U.S. each year. We believe part of the solution to hunger is to address our food waste and divert it from the landfill and into the hands who need it. Windham Community Food Network has done just that, by rescuing over 10,000 lbs of food this last year that would have ended up in the landfill!
With your support, we can continue to create opportunities for the community by building a healthy food network, reducing waste, and improving food access. The health of each one of us affects the health and well-being of our entire community.
